Commander's Corner

Hi and welcome to the Commanders Corner. I am CPT Kevin Standfield and I am the Commander of Bravo and Charlie Companies, 23rd Battlion, of the Blackhorse Brigade. I spent 5 years in the Oklahoma National Guard and retired after 22 years of active duty in the U.S. Army. I have served all over the world in various assignments as both a senior NCO and Officer in the Infantry and Signal Corps. I am Air Assualt qualifed (101st Ariborne) and also hold the Jungle Warfare Expert Badge (Panama).

We normally drill the second Saturday of the month and spend 3/4 of the time in Fredericksburg Armory and the rest in Bowling Green Armory. We do a 2 day training exercise in Winchestor during the spring and a 2 day exercise at Fort Pickett in the fall. I strive to make all of our training interesting and revelant to what we do in our service to the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia. I am always open to suggestions for challenging training and want you to be excited about what we do. This is a great time to be a member of the VDF as we are growing to 1,200 troops and picking up more exciting missions.
